Kitties, puppies and horses? Oh, my!

August 16, 2011

Following the yellow brick road into our shelter will lead you to dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and the occasional bunny or ferret. But what happens if you venture off of the yellow brick road, past the play yard, and through the grass? You will find ducks, chickens, and yes, even a horse. It is very quiet up in the livestock area. The clucking and occasional whinny is all that alerts you to their presence. These animals are also adoptable, and our horse is especially looking for a place to call his own.
Wild Card is a charismatic 10-year-old Quarter Horse gelding. Prior to his arrival here at KHS, he did not have many interactions with people, so he was very wary of anyone around him. He came to us underweight, with bad feet and as a stallion. He has since been gelded, had his feet trimmed, gained his weight back, and best of all? He whinnies for people. He enjoys being brushed and has a spunky attitude about life. He is now looking for a place to call his own and a person to love and brush him. And maybe even a place with another horse to become his friend.
So please come to the Kitsap Humane Society and follow a different road: the road that leads to the adoptable livestock. This road may not be yellow, but it is still great for skipping.
