Euthanasia & Cremation

The decision to have your pet humanely euthanized is a serious one and might be one of the most difficult decisions you will ever make. Although it is a personal decision, it need not be a solitary one. Your veterinarian, family, and friends can help you make the right decision. Consider not only what is best for you and your family, but also what is best for your pet.

Kitsap Humane Society offers low-cost humane euthanasia services in a caring environment by appointment only. Low-cost cremation services include group cremation (which means the animal is cremated with other animals and the owner does not get the ashes back) and private cremation (which means the animal is cremated individually and the owner gets the ashes back).

  • Euthanasia is scheduled by appointment only.
  • Euthanasia fees are determined by the weight of your pet.
  • Unlike private veterinary practice, owners cannot be present during the euthanasia procedure. If you feel strongly about being with your pet during euthanasia, please contact your primary or emergency veterinarian for service.
  • Cremation services for already deceased pets can be scheduled by appointment, or handled on a walk-in basis.
  • Cremation fees are determined by the weight of your pet.
  • For private cremation, ashes are ready for pick up from KHS in about two weeks.
  • There is no fee for taking your pet home for burial after euthanasia.

To make an appointment for euthanasia services, please email khsvet@kitsap-humane.org or call (360) 692-6977, ext. 2023. Please note, our euthanasia appointments are currently being booked out 2-3 weeks in advance.
