Kitsap Humane Society offers group classes and private training sessions for you and your dog. We offer group classes taught by experienced professional dog trainers in a calm and comfortable environment. Class sizes are small (4-6 dogs).

We also offer low-cost private training packages. You may wish to select one of our package programs or contact our trainer to customize your training experience. Contact Deana Case at behavior@kitsap-humane.org  or (360) 692-6977, ext. 1112.

Our current class offerings are:

·         Puppy Preschool – This four-week class focuses on the basics for developing a good solid pet/owner relationship and well-behaved puppy. Focus will be on understanding your puppy’s needs, how to re-direct those pesky habits like chewing, nipping, mouthing and house soiling. Puppies must be under 6 months of age and current on age-appropriate vaccinations. No puppies under 10 weeks. The first class is for puppy parents only, please don’t bring your puppy!

·         Basic Manners – This six-week class focuses on the basics for developing a good solid pet/owner relationship and well-behaved dog. Focus will be on basic manners such as sit/stay, go to your bed, wait at the door, loose leash walking, polite greetings and much more. Dogs must be over 6 months of age and current on age-appropriate vaccinations.

·         Therapy Dog Practice Meet-up – This is a free class for people who wish to join our Delta Therapy Dog Group, or for those that have already joined us. Your dog must have completed our Basic Manners Class and must also be dog social in order to attend this free class. The purpose of this group is to help Pet Partner Teams work on focus and training with distractions, to discuss therapy animal topics, identify places needing animal visits and to network our group with the community. Some sessions are held in the KHS Training Center, others are held at a previously planned offsite location for enhanced practice sessions. Space is limited, so please reserve your spot in the class.

·         Out and About–This fun six-week class will take Basic Manners to the next level. Dog owners will learn how to manage and train their dog away from home and get reliable behavior with distractions in a variety of settings. The first class will take place at the Kitsap Humane Society Training Center; the five subsequent classes will take place at varied locations throughout the Silverdale area.
