A note from our Volunteer Coordinator
November 8, 2010
Volunteers are special. We simply could not care for all animals at our shelter without the assistance from our volunteer team.
We are excited to hear of the continued interest from the public to join our volunteer team and look forward to improving the process for current and new volunteers in 2011.
Due to these changes and the busy holiday season, we have closed new volunteer orientations until January 2011.
This is all in effort to more effectively welcome and train our volunteers.
We want you to be matched with the opportunities that interest you most and fit your experience and volunteer schedule availability.
Please be patient as we complete projects to make your new volunteer experience a more efficient and enjoyable one!! What to look forward to in 2011:
- On-line volunteer orientation options – Easily accessible training videos on-line for animal handling in ADDITION to condensed basic handling courses for felines and canines. –
- More personal interaction with staff as we match you and train you for your volunteer position of choice.
- Decreased lag time between applying and starting your volunteer shifts.
- More diverse opportunities up front! Don’t want to walk dogs or pet cats?…there will be MANY other opportunities for you which don’t require direct handling of animals!
We anxiously look forward to meeting with you and discussing how YOU can be a valuable part of our volunteer team
Stay tuned!
