Pet of the Week – Matthew

Meet Matthew!

Matthew is a handsome, 9-years-old long-haired orange tabby with adorable white markings. Matthew is a bit of a shy boy who takes some time to warm up to new people and situations. He’s looking for a patient and a dedicated adopter who will give him the time he needs to warm up and come out of his shell. Matthew is very food motivated, so treats and yummy wet food are the way to his heart! Once Matthew feels comfortable, he will rub up against your legs asking for pets, will meow at you for attention, and will jump in your lap to snuggle. Sometimes when he’s really happy, he’ll nibble along your sleeve and give little “love bites”. While Matthew has shown he can enjoy attention from people and be a sweet, outgoing cat, he is easily startled by loud noises, new people, or changes in his environment. He is a sensitive boy who may take several weeks to blossom into the wonderful cat we know he can be. His adopter should have a quiet home with a room that Matthew can have all to himself while he warms up to his new environment. Matthew would do best in a home with kids over the age of 16. It should be noted that Matthew came to KHS previously declawed on all four feet, so he needs to be an indoor-only cat. Because Matthew is so sensitive to change and takes so long to come out of his shell, his meet and greets are by appointment only. If you’re interested in meeting Matthew, please email an adoption application to kbritton@kitsap-humane.org. If you are ready to open your heart to a sweet cat like Matthew, ask about meeting him today! You can meet Matthew and other adoptable animals at Kitsap Humane Society, open six days a week. www.kitsap-humane.org.
