A very big THANK YOU to the sailors of the USS Nimitz!

March 7, 2011

The USS Nimitz had a team of 30+ visit the shelter on Saturday and they helped us with various projects.

Here are just a few of the things they helped us with: organizing above the livestock shed area and separating trash from usable items; clearing the lower pasture and raking all the pine and damaged branches that fell from our previous storms; cleaned and organized our Tuff Shed livestock shed (they even hung hooks for horse equipment and labeled the various feeds and supplies areas to maintain organization); and disinfected, separated and sorted all of our crates and kept the good, non-damaged crates. They also moved the puppy socialization fence from within our play yard to the truck bay and constructed a car port over it. And lastly, they put up four car ports: one in front of the training center for classes in case of inclement weather; one for the puppy area; one to cover our crates that do not fit in our shed in the truck bay area; and one to cover our counsel area.

The USS Nimitz volunteers were such a great help. Thank you so much for taking your personal time to help us with all of these various projects. Our work would not be possible without volunteers like you. We are so fortunate to have you as a community partner!!!
