Let Your Next Best Friend Skip the Shelter with Home To Home®

Private rehoming is a critical way to help support more animals finding homes that meet their needs without coming into the stressful shelter environment. Behavior and quality of life can often decline when shelter kennel capacity is maxed out, which means animals aren’t showing at their best and can experience longer periods of time at the shelter. Private rehoming helps decrease the number of animals coming into the shelter environment, increases their ability to find new and supportive homes that best meet their needs, and allows the people who know the animal best to advocate for the animals moving on! 

Home To Home is a community space for supported private rehoming efforts. To post your animal through our shelter partnership page, please complete the following action steps:

• Submit a private rehoming request 
• Complete the corresponding behavior form for the animal you are posting – these forms must be completed to be eligible for review
  • Dog Behavior Form
  • Cat Behavior Form
• Submit a $10 rehoming administration fee

All communication between animal owners and prospective adopters occurs directly through the Home-To-Home website. It is the responsibility of the owner to follow through with communication for rehoming efforts. While being posted through the KHS Shelter Partnership page, KHS is not responsible for any present or future damage that the pet may do to a person, animal, or property. Rehoming efforts are between the animal owner and prospective adopter, KHS is not involved in the rehoming process outside of having the animal displayed on our shelter partnership page. Home-To-Home offers independent adoption contracts and additional rehoming resources to help support individuals through finding the right home for their animals.

Once all forms and payment are received, please allow 3-5 business days for review and posting on the KHS shelter partnership page. Contact admissions@kitsap-humane.org if you have any additional questions about the Home-To-Home process.
