New Year, New Hours! Effective January 1, 2011, KHS will begin seasonal hours of operation. See below for the details, and help us spread the word. Pet Viewing & Adoptions M, W, F, Sa, Su – Noon-5:30 p.m. (Adoptions close at 5:00 p.m.) Th – Noon-6:30 p.m. (Adoptions close at 6:00 p.m.) Admissions M, W, Th, F, Sa, Su – 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Please be advised that volunteer access will remain the same including Tuesdays. Although KHS will be closed to the public on Tuesdays, the shelter will continue with emergency and stray admissions as well as animal care, animal rescue and administration. Our pets will have quiet time at least one day a week so they may decompress and rest. More downtime allows us to focus on enrichment activities and behavior training without interruption. Our animals will receive more quality time and interaction with staff and volunteers, which is critical to reduce their stress and chance of illness. These changes will help us allocate our resources better so that our shelter can function more efficiently by putting the needs of our animals first.
