KHS Social Media's blog

Time for thought on rainy days!

My kennel mates and I try to bark the loudest when we see someone come through the door. Today I think I barked the loudest since I was walked twice and got played with. Yesterday and the day before I was not so lucky.

No More Homeless Pets

Last weekend I was privileged to attend  the No More Homeless Pets Conference hosted by Best Friends Animal Society in Las Vegas.  I learned that Love, Patience, Respect, Humility, pretty much all the great virtues in mankind still exist.

A Visit From Legacy Canine

Last Thursday, Kitsap Humane was visited by a group of trainers from Legacy Canine in Sequim. This group of young people were international students of the Karen Pryor Clicker Academy, and they were being hosted and instructed by Elaine Diedrich at Legacy Canine during a ten day stay in the United States. They came from Hong Kong China, Tel Aviv Israel, and the Philippines. All of the trainers were very interested in ways to promote the humane treatment of animals in their own countries.

KHS Volunteers Donate Dog Leashes

From time to time Law Enforcement Officers find themselves needing a dog Leash to keep an animal safe while waiting for Pet Owners or Animal Rescue. Thanks to the donation of dog leashes funded by our Social Media Department most law enforcement vehicles in our county will have an accessible dog leash in their vehicle.

PET OBESITY ISN'T A PET PROBLEM; IT'S A PEOPLE PROBLEM

People are busy so our pets suffer. We are working more, running from one place to the other, traveling, keeping up with the "other" kids, aging parents, and so much more in our schedules. While we are doing all this, our pets sit at home day after day laying around getting fat. Not everyone has this problem but an estimated 40% of dogs and 60% of cats are obese acording to APOP.
