Lost and then Found

Here at the Kitsap Humane Society, we receive many e-mails daily from people asking if we have their lost pet. What makes a recent morning different was that we did. Sharon, one of our customer service employees, recognized their cat. Gifford, as we called him here, was 12 years old, scruffy and a little sick. Gifford’s owners came in a few hours later, and sure enough, he was their cat. But he hadn’t been their cat for long. They had rescued him off the street a few weeks ago, and it didn’t take them long to fall in love and call him their own.

In Honor of Letty's Life and Her Parents

By now most of you have learned our beloved Letty (Scarlett) passed away unexpectedly October 18th, 2011. She was brought to a local vet clinic at midnight, advanced to critical condition within hours and was unable to recover from surgery. She passed away later that afternoon.

She was more than just a number

7876. This was her intake number from the second time she was here at KHS. Letty, a beautiful Pit Bull Terrier, had been here previously and was stolen from us. We thought we would never see her again. She was found months later emaciated and tied to a tree- she had been used as a bait dog in dog fighting. She was brought to us, given a new intake number, and started her long road to recovery. She loved and cherished everyone she met. She wagged her tail, smiled, and slid down onto the ground to be pet each time she was approached.
