Adopt-A-Bull

Many shelters across the United States are faced with a high population of pit bulls. Kitsap Humane Society is no different. We believe all dogs are individuals and are treated as such. We treat, evaluate and find forever homes for ever dog based on their personality and specific needs. We have special programs for our pit bulls or pit mixes not because they are different, but because they are not.  Our special pit programs have been created to provide education to the community in response to common misconceptions, unfavorable and misrepresented pit bull media statistics. Breed legislation and breed restrictions have been one of the causes contributing to so many pit bulls in shelters as well as breed popularity. Twenty five years ago it was rare to see pit bulls walking the streets, since not many people owned them. This one breed is being produced by thousands of people across the country in lieu of 4 million dogs a year being euthanized.
