KHS to join Wings of Rescue Holiday Airlift

November 11, 2015

On Friday, November 20th, 1000 at-risk pets from Southern California will get airlifted out of harm’s way, to shelters and rescues around the country…including Kitsap Humane Society! KHS has partnered with Wings of Rescue for over a year to help save at-risk dogs and kittens from overcrowded and under-resourced shelters in Southern California.  KHS staff typically meets the Wings of Rescue plane at the Bremerton Airport or Payne Airfield in Everett. The Holiday Airlift is an extra special event, with twenty planes full of pets flying out of Van Nuys,California. Wings of Rescue will be utilizing dozens of volunteers to load the pets and give them a loving send off. KHS is expecting to rescue twenty to thirty animals out of the 1000 expected to be saved on that day alone. KHS staff and volunteers will be ready to greet the new arrivals with warm beds, open arms and of course, lots of treats! The pets saved by KHS through the Holiday Airlift will all be looking for adoptive homes, so interested adopters are encouraged to come visit the shelter during adoption hours starting on Saturday, November 21st.
