Kitsap Humane Society is participating in the HomeAgain Helps Shelter of the Year contest- which means we could win up to $25,000 plus a new computer, ipad, microchip scanner, and veterinary supplies! We would love to win this money and prizes for our ever growing life saving and shelter medicine/veterinary programs, but we need YOU, and EVERY supporter, to nominate us! Nominations can be submitted online until August 14th.  Once you’ve nominated us, please spread the word to your friends, family and coworkers to ask them to take a few minutes to nominate us, too! We need all the help we can get from our community and supporters! The five shelters with the most nominations will move to the final judging round, and all five finalists will get cash and/or equipment prizes. You can learn more about the content and prizes at www.homeagainhelps.comNominating KHS is easy, and below we’ll include all of the information you need to complete your nomination.

To nominate KHS for the HomeAgain Helps Shelter of the Year contest, just follow these simple steps, and email nsmith@kitsap-humane.org if you have any questions on how to complete the form!

1. Go to http://www.homeagainhelps.com/nominate

2. You’ll need to enter KHS’ contact information, which is:

Shelter Name: Kitsap Humane Society

Address: 9167 Dickey Rd NW, Silverdale, WA 98383

Phone: 360-692-6977

3. You’ll need to tell the contest about KHS- what we do to do help pets, people and the community, and why you think we deserve to be nominated. You can write anything you’d like , or if you’re short for time, we’ve included some ideas for you. Just cut and paste from the options below:

– Kitsap Humane Society deserves to be nominated because it is the only open admission animal shelter serving Kitsap County, so it is a true community resource for our area’s people and pets. KHS provides low-cost spay/neuter, vaccination and microchipping, and a food pantry to county residents. KHS also reunites hundreds of lost pets with their owners every year.

OR

– Kitsap Humane Society deserves to be nominated because it is a small shelter with a huge life saving impact. In addition to caring for its county’s unwanted and stray pets, in 2014 KHS rescued 1221 at-risk pets from other shelters that may have otherwise been euthanized. In 2014 KHS provided foster care to 814 underage, sick and injured animals, and found adoptive homes for a record 4515 pets.

4. You’ll need to tell the contest how you think the shelter could best use $25,000, new tech tools, and Merck Animal Health veterinary supplies. You can write anything you’d like, or if you’re short for time, we’ve included some ideas for you. Just cut and paste from the options below:

– Kitsap Humane Society could definitely use the funding to support its expanding life saving programs such as adoptions, rescue transfers and foster care. Tech tools would enable staff and volunteers to get adoptable pets promoted online to adopters more quickly and could be used at off-site adoption events around the community.

OR

– Kitsap Humane Society could best use the funding, technology and veterinary supplies to support its amazing Veterinary Services team. There are always shelter animals in need of life saving surgeries or medical treatment in addition to the thousands of animals that KHS spays and neuters and vaccinates every year, and winning these prizes would help KHS help even more animals!

THANK YOU from all the staff and animals at KHS!!!
